[ARCHIVED] Council Woman Willie Kennedy Selected Champion of Service

Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and Volunteer Louisiana recently announced the 2023 Champions of Service, an annual award that recognizes outstanding volunteers from across the state. Nominated by Louisiana State Representative Charles Owen, Leesville Councilwoman Willie Mae Kennedy was among the nine winners of this year's award. 

Mrs. Kennedy is well known throughout the city of Leesville for her numerous volunteer efforts including, collecting school supplies for Vernon Parish students, supporting Jubilee Park and city beautification efforts, keeping alumni connected to historic Vernon High School, visiting seniors in assisted living or patients at Byrd Regional Hospital, and much more. 

Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and the Volunteer Louisiana Foundation will honor the winners with an award ceremony on April 18, 2023. More information about the 2023 Champions of Service can be found at VolunteerLouisiana.gov or on the Volunteer Louisiana Facebook page.
