[ARCHIVED] City Council Authorizes Hotel & Restaurant Feasibility Study

At its regular meeting on January 27, 2026, the Leesville City Council adopted Resolution 9 of 2026, authorizing the City to engage Core Distinction Group to conduct a comprehensive hotel and restaurant feasibility study for the Leesville area.

The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Councilmember Robertson and seconded by Councilmember Prewitt. The measure passed with no public comments.

As part of the study, residents, visitors, and local stakeholders are encouraged to complete a brief survey to help assess community needs and travel patterns.

Take the Survey Here

Why is the City doing this feasibility study?

Strengthening economic development

A feasibility study helps determine whether Leesville can support additional lodging or dining options. This includes analyzing tourism, military‑related travel, business travel, and regional demand. If the data shows strong potential, it becomes a powerful tool for attracting private investment.

Supporting future growth

Developers and hotel brands rarely build without verified market data. A third‑party study gives them the confidence that Leesville is a viable location — and it helps the City guide growth strategically rather than reactively.

Identifying gaps and opportunities

The study will highlight what types of hotels or restaurants are most needed (e.g., mid‑scale, extended stay, boutique, family dining, etc.) and where they would be most successful.

How will the survey help?

Capturing real community insight

Local voices matter. The survey gathers information about how often people host visitors, where those visitors stay, and what amenities residents feel are missing.

Providing data developers rely on

Developers want to see measurable demand. Survey responses become part of the dataset that shows real‑world need — not just projections.

🎯 Ensuring the study reflects Leesville’s unique patterns

Leesville has a mix of military, tourism, and regional traffic. The survey helps the study accurately reflect those patterns rather than relying on generic assumptions.
