t today’s Leesville City Council meeting, Mayor Rick Allen issued a heartfelt proclamation recognizing January 27 as a day dedicated to honoring the life, spirit, and enduring impact of Joshua “Josh” Petrillo. The proclamation was presented to Josh’s parents, Lara and Jeff Fulton, in recognition of their son’s remarkable influence on the Leesville and Vernon Parish community. Josh is remembered as someone who welcomed every person he met with kindness, compassion, and genuine love—truly never meeting a stranger. He had an extraordinary gift for seeing people for their worth, offering joy, acceptance, and encouragement without judgment. Known for remembering every person’s first and last name, Josh made others feel seen, valued, and important with every greeting. His presence lit up every room, bringing warmth, smiles, and a sense of belonging wherever he went. Although his loss is deeply felt throughout the community, Josh’s legacy of kindness, acceptance, and love continues to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. In recognition of that enduring legacy, the City of Leesville has formally designated January 27 as a day to reflect on Josh’s example and to encourage all citizens to treat one another with compassion and respect. The City extends its deepest sympathies to the Petrillo and Fulton families, and its gratitude for sharing Josh’s extraordinary spirit with the community.
