[ARCHIVED] Coming Up: Whirlwind Weekend of Events

Leesville is bursting with fall fun this weekend—from golf greens to downtown scenes, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. More information about all these events can be found at LeesvilleLA.gov.

Friday, October 31st

Citywide Trick or Treating

Grab your costumes and candy bags—Leesville’s official Trick or Treat hours run from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday. Neighborhoods across the city will be aglow with porch lights and pumpkin smiles, welcoming little ghosts, goblins, and superheroes. Parents are encouraged to accompany young trick-or-treaters and watch for safety zones and designated crossing areas. Whether you're handing out treats or haunting the sidewalks, it's a sweet way to celebrate community spirit.

Giggles & Ghouls: Outdoor Movie Double Feature

Settle in under the stars for a silly-spooky evening at the Polk Outdoor Theater! Starting at 5:30 PM, this free community movie night offers “Some for the fun, one for the fright”— with a lineup of lighthearted cartoon shorts followed by the classic Halloween chiller, the original House on Haunted Hill. Limited seating is available, so bring your own blankets, lawn chairs, and cozy layers. Whether you're giggling with the kids or braving the goosebumps, it’s a perfect way to kick off your Halloween weekend.

Witch Way to Main Street

Leesville’s beloved downtown stroll returns from 6:00-8:00 PM with cauldrons full of fun! Revel in the rhythm of downtown tunes while taking part in spirited games and enjoying seasonal delights. Expect costumed characters, themed storefronts, food trucks and magical photo ops around every corner. Whether you're shopping, snacking, or just soaking in the autumn vibes, this Main Street celebration is not to be missed!

Saturday, November 1st

Derby Daze & Classic Car Show

Leesville’s Derby Daze returns Saturday, November 1 with a full day of racing, music, and chrome, chrome, chrome! While derby racers compete for a state championship title, the Leesville/Fort Polk Auto & Bike Show, hosted by Dan Tupper & Associates, will transform upper Third Street into a showcase of vintage vehicles—from muscle cars to timeless cruisers. Adding a touch of pageantry, the newly crowned Leesville Derby Queens will be on hand to present awards to both the racers and the car show winners, celebrating community pride with sparkle and smiles.  Whiskey Dent, a local rock & roll band, will keep the energy high with live music from the courthouse steps starting at 11:00 AM. Whether you're racing, rocking, or just roaming, Derby Daze is Leesville’s ultimate celebration of speed, style, and community spirit.

City Golf Championship

Tee off with top local talent at Leesville’s annual showdown on the greens! Registration begins at 8:00 AM, so arrive early to claim your spot and warm up. This year’s reigning champions—Shawn Booty (Open Division), Samantha Goodwin (Women’s Division), Dallas Cole (Senior Division), and Jeff Fulton (Super Senior Division)—set the bar high, and the competition promises to be fierce. Whether you're swinging for the generous prizes or just chasing bragging rights, you won’t want to miss this community classic.
