[ARCHIVED] April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month in Leesville

On April 28, 2025, Mayor Rick Allen, alongside representatives from CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), signed an official proclamation declaring April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month in the City of Leesville. The proclamation reinforces the city's commitment to protecting its most vulnerable citizens and raising awareness about the importance of child abuse prevention.

As part of the observance, CASA planted pinwheels on the front lawn of City Hall, symbolizing hope, resilience, and the joyful childhoods that all children deserve. The pinwheel display serves as a powerful visual reminder of the community’s dedication to fostering safe environments for children to grow and thrive.

"Protecting our children is a shared responsibility, and this proclamation underscores Leesville's pledge to support advocacy efforts that prevent child abuse and neglect," said Mayor Allen. "We commend CASA for their tireless work and encourage all residents to be active participants in safeguarding the well-being of our young ones."

Throughout the month, CASA and local organizations will host events and initiatives to educate the public about child welfare and the importance of reporting abuse. Community members are encouraged to show their support by wearing blue, attending educational workshops, and sharing resources to help families in need.
