In addition to these basic responsibilities, however, Mayor Allen often represents the city as he travels around the state / country in a variety of other leadership roles, including:
- Chairman of the Louisiana Armed Forces Alliance (formerly Fort Polk Progress)
- 2nd Vice-President of the Louisiana Municipal Association
- Governor's Military Advisory Committee
- Louisiana Municipal Advisory and Technical Services Bureau (LaMATS)
- Vernon Parish Chamber of Commerce
Mayor Allen is a great motivational speaker, who enjoys speaking to school classes / groups about what it’s like to be mayor. Sometimes classes prefer a visit to City Hall, where they can have a tour of the facility as part of the trip.
He is also available to speak with older students about how to succeed in life and business.
